About the Barn

If you are interested in eco-building, alternative energy, native bush tucker or have other ideas about making this project eco-friendly why not get in touch, we will be looking for workshop facilitators, volunteers service providers, sponsors, and people who want to take part in workshops to help create the area as an environmentally sustainable community asset…

A sustainable society is defined as one that satisfies its needs without diminishing the prospects of future generations. Just as building codes are written to preserve the health and safety of the public, sustainable building is emerging as a responsible way for humanity to preserve the health and safety of the planet.
Jack Ehrhardt - Earthship builder

The Arts Barn Group aims to build and provide a creative space for Artists and Cultural groups to come together, to collaborate, to tell their stories and to explore the possibilities in producing new works in a sustainable way. It will be a centre for learning and for sharing new skills and a place to showcase the wealth of creative talent on the Central Coast.

It will also provide and encourage new opportunities for Arts based business and employment. Development of the facility will involve and include the community as much a possible, it aims to encourage participation of all ages and provide specific programs and events for local youth, our indigenous community, the elderly and the disadvantaged with the aim of connecting people through creativity and pride in “place”. The Centre will promote environmentally friendly practices including using recycled materials, using low impact techniques, use of local materials, green technology and design whilst considering conservation, preservation and celebration of our natural environment.

The project is being managed by a consortium made up of Brackets and Jam and Fusion Arts who will encourage participation by interested individuals and other community groups, to develop a unique community asset which will be a model for sustainable social enterprise.

There are many ways to get involved, why not register your interest if you would like to run or take part in the following:

There are many arts and cultural silos in our community who are operating in isolation and often disengaged from the greater arts and cultural community, often with very limited resources. The hub will be an opportunity for all of these organisations to network and share resources with each other building community connectedness & social relationships by providing intergenerational opportunities for recreation & leisure through cultural expression & participation.

The project is a partnership between Brackets and Jam Central Coast Inc and Fusion Arts Central Coast Inc. but is supported by many other organisations including Kariong Eco Garden, CC Tourism, Kariong Neighbourhood centre, Earth Central, Community Development Gosford City Council and other groups that we are currently in discussion with.
